Evades back in??
I thought the Evade mechanic change was permanent, as stated in the update notes.
I was just doing some Random Arena and in 2 seperate matches tried to hit Ritualists and they were evading all my attacks. "evaded" poped up with every attack I made, not "blocked".

They better bring it back to the game...
What's the point of changing a game mechanic after almost two years.
They'll have their reasons although i fail to understand them.

The only reason I see is making the game more clearer/ simpler for new players.
I find the loss of 'evade' regrettable, as skills could always be either 'anti-block' or 'anti-evade'. A certain room for skilldesign. But I guess that in the end, the designspace wasn't used enough to warrant two seperate game-functions...

While you may be right on the 'new players' aspect they can't forget the fact that one time we've all been 'new players' and we too had to adapt to those two different game mechanics.'
You can look at this in two perspectives.
They either:
1. think the players are becoming dumber, thereby making the game easier
2. think the veteran players have been adapting all the time anyways so another change won't cut the cheese.

The fact that evade was the exact same mechanic as block, and neither could happen at once, you could call evade strawberry jelly and it wouldn't make a difference to how your character avoids a hit.
It really was/is a redundant function, and no it has nothing to do with people's intelligence as to why it has been slated for removal.
A character has a 50% chance to "slip" and a 50% chance to "slide", but neither can happen at once. So...you either slip or slide...who cares, as the result is the same. Call it evade, call it block...you're either going to be hit or you're not.

I agree with all that. The problem is the skills that exist which have an effect when 'blocked.' They all get a serious buff with this change with no way avoid them, to the point where running a 'block' stance can become a serious liability. The mechanics are redundant, but Anet saw fit to make a distinction before the change, and really they didn't do a lot to clean that up when they combined the two.

The thing with evade is that it gave another option. Because you have the option to 'slip' rather than 'slide', it adds a level of complexity to the game. One of the reasons being that it forces players to make another choice in their skill selection(do I take anti evade, anti block, or one of the few skills that does both?).
Taking out evade simplifies the metagame(presumably for skill balances as well), while buffing anti-block skills. I would frankly prefer they buff the other skills which are less used(the ones that got a buff from the removal) than remove the mechanic. Then again, I'm not the person working on skill balances.
But that's just my two cents

I believe when you dodge arrows/wand attacks it will still be called evade simply because that is what you are physically doing. Also it wasn't completely redundant because there are (as mentioned above) skills that have effects when evaded and skills that have effects when blocked. So whether or not you bring an evasion skill or a blocking skill can make all the difference.

Added the evade mechanic back into the game. This was listed as a permanent change in the last update notes but has been added back into the game pending further analysis.

yah if its not broken, dont fix it....
Aside from that, If they still go through with it, its like a buff to warriors for their griffin sweep and leviathan sweep too... Easy knock downs on anyone trying to block a warrior... Without at least some other option, and those skills staying the same, and effecting blocks like that. Seems a bit out of control and just calls for more nerfs....Idk I just don't see the justice in removing it.
Blocking an attack isnt the same as evading.
Maybe bring more into it? If you block, you take a small dmg hit or % of the original dmg? rounded down, something like that?
Evading...you just totally move out of the way, so thats fine.... and anyone can do that right? If I tried to stab you with my knife, your not gonna block it with your hands every time..are you? lol

removing evade made irresistible blow broken, which they realized and figured out they had to re add evade plus griffon's sweep/leviathan's sweep was very bad too

Block and evade are the exact same thing in this game. The enemy fails to hit you. They had evade in with the sole purpose of creating skill utilities. I personally favor the evade mechanic because it makes skills more unique.

So what - you're gonna have rangers 'blocking' arrows? What with? Their bows? Ranger stances EVADE, Warrior stances BLOCK. You gonna have Sun and Moon just hitting twice and thats it? Remind me to take Sun/Moon with me all the time now.
Skills were made to counter evades and other to counter blocks. Thats the game - Bring back the evades and keep them there. Mr Anet please stop buckling under whiner pressure. I certainly like the fact that there are several ways to avoid attacks.

Isn't that what just happened? They made a "permanent" change to remove evasion, then the whining started and now it's back in.

No it's not what happened...
I'm pretty sure the whine isn't the reason why they've put it back in...
It was after all a test weekend.
Even if they said it was permanent they can still have a change of hearts or opinion and come back on a previous decision.
